We got this seat in a different color for our first baby. We feel very secure with it. Easy to install and a little hint, they try to get you to buy the second base for the snugride if you have two cars... you don't need it, you can fasten the seat without the base. the directions for it are on the seat.
I like that we can move the canopy to wherever the sun is to directly block it, and that it's transportable to our stroller. (bough seperatly) It comes with a head "brace" whatever those things are called to cradle the head. Those never do anything, and are pretty useless, but the seat itself is great.
Best Carseat I've owned

I have four children and this the fourth carseat, and the best that I have had. Not only is it pretty (lots of people comment on that) but it functions incredibly well. My only complaint is that it is difficult to unlatch when attached to a graco double stroller. You have to tip it a certain way and then use every muscle in your hand you can muster to unlatch it. It works great with the base though. Overall I give it an A.
Excellent Car Seat- Love it!!! Top Choice

Before my daughter was born I did a lot of research before deciding on a car seat. This one really appealed to me based on other reviews and the top rated safety ratings. The neutral colors are great too, not too girly or boyish. When I received it as a shower gift I was immediately impressed. It is very light and the seat is so comfy feeling with lots of padding, removable head and body supports and high sides to protect my baby. The attached bunting is removable and was very nice especially with a newborn during the colder months. And the adjustable/removable cover is great in all weather; keeps the cold wind off, the sun out and the rain away. The base was easy to install in the car with the latch anchor system, and it is adjustable. We brought our baby girl home from the hospital in it and she fit perfect even though she was so tiny at 6.5lbs. The harness has removable comfort bands, the chest closure and each side of the harness attach separately into the crotch latch which is very nice and makes like so easy with a squirming infant. Even now at 7 months our baby girl fits perfectly and it is so easy to get her in and out of the car. I would also recommend the Graco stroller they make travel and just running everyday errands so easy; the car seat comes out of the car and clicks right into the stroller and off we go. Definitely recommend this car seat it is awesome!!
This seat has been fantastic!!

My wife and I just had our first baby two months ago, and this was the best purchase we could have made. We have a 2004 Toyota Corolla, which has an annoying hump in the middle of the back seat (Which is where it's recommended to put the child seat), but this seat was so easy to install behind the driver's seat. It's easier than many to install because you can take the seat off of the base.

The seat as a carrier has been great. It is a bit heavy, so long walks with only the carrier aren't practical, but the carrier fits perfectly on the child seat of grocery carts and in our Graco stroller, so we can be very mobile with our daughter without having to move her in and out of the seat.

She seems to find the seat comfortable, too. Car rides have been a great way of getting her to sleep on those horribly fussy nights, and we don't worry about the safety of the seat (The fire department personnel who helped show us the proper way of installing it said that this seat is one of the best out there). We are so happy with this seat and would recommend it to anyone who is getting ready to start a family.
I LOVE this car seat, and it works great in our car!

I did plenty of research for a car seat for my firstborn, and the Snugfit got the best safety reviews. And we just loved the pring- perfect for a boy or a girl. I had heard how hard car seats were to install in the car, but it was a BREEZE. I had it installed in the backseat within five minutes. My car has the LATCH system, and it has worked great. My daughter loves being in her car seat, and I have always felt perfectly safe with her in it. I was surprised to read the other reviews, since I have never experienced a single one of those issues with my car seat. I would highly recommend this seat to any parent.
Safe, Convenient and Reasonably Priced

Reviewer: Vickie,
We looked at many carseats before we chose this one. 1st of all, we wanted safe. The seat got good reviews and had a safe harness system. The seat was also affordable. The pattern was cute and neutral, good for boys or girls. It did take some work to install the base but I think all seats would be similar. It was a good purchase. We especially enjoy the matching stroller that will hold 2 carseats. This has been a blessing with twins.
great, soft, not as heavy as other brands

This is a very good car-seat. It is soft and seems confortable for the baby.

I just wanted to add that the color is more kaki than white, I was expecting some much lighter hue.

The size is good, and a word to those deciding what to buy:
. This car seat does not have the side impact protection. That is the only con.
. The bigger the car seat the longer you will be able to use it BUT, the heavier and bulkier it will be. With the new bigger carseats you are talking about carrying 50 pounds to get your baby out of the car with the seat (25 for the seat, about 25 -or even more- with the baby). So that is something to consider before buying.
Best bang for your buck

We're expecting twins and need car seats for them. We used a Graco SnugRide with my son 4 years ago but 1. that was before the redesign that lets them hold a little bigger baby and 2. the padding in his was THIN and 3. a cat got in our garage and peed on his so I don't want to use it again EVER (except maybe to hurl at that cat).

My biggest concern with the SnugRide was that my son's was so hard - he hated being in the car seat as an infant. I briefly considered getting something "fancier" (such as the Chicco Keyfit) thinking it might be more comfortable for baby OR getting the Graco SafeSeat 1 since it can be used longer. However, the fancier seats cost more and the SnugRide has always come out on top for safety - even with the recent bizarre recalled safety test, Graco won. So I set about finding a SnugRide that was comfy - and not ugly! (There are some remarkably hideous SnugRides out there!!!)

A tip - the Graco seats that come with the travel systems *seem* to be more cheaply made, thin padding, etc. If you want a nice one, you may have to buy alone - not an issue for us since Graco doesn't sell a double travel system anyway that I can tell. Look for the Gracos with the "gracopedic" foam. Some of the SafeSeats have them, some of the SnugRides have them. It's GOOD stuff.

The cover on this seat is flashy, but neutral. I mean, you can use it for a girl or a boy. We are having two little girls and hope to have one more child - this could be re-used either way.

The fabric is nylony - kind of smooth, slippery, not scratchy. *Maybe* not as nice as cotton but my thinking is little spills will wipe off easily.

Two cons - sunshades have to be assembled yourself and it's a little tricky, and I don't know that the "boot" will proove that useful. But all around this is a safer, comfier, and cheaper seat than the flashier brands - even if it is pricey for a SnugRide. Worth the extra money.

We decided ultimately to skip the SafeSeat since, even though the longer range of use is nice, realistically we are not going to want to be hauling two babies in buckets once they get that big. The seat itself is bigger and just seems more akward over all. Maybe a good consideration, though, for only one baby.

SnugRide in Lotus seems the way to go, to me. Search around - I was able to get this seat for thirty bucks less than here. ;-)

My husband and I decided to purchase a Graco infant car seat after the good experience we had with our firstborn's Graco travel system. We decided on the Snugride in Platinum because of its neutral tones and good reviews, and I liked the fact that it includes a foot muff for cooler weather. We wanted a color that would pair nicely with the Graco Snugrider stroller frame, and this works brilliantly. The photo makes the light color look almost silver though, when in fact the seat is black with a khaki/beige accent color. I expected that from other reviews I've read, and it's still neutral and sharp looking, so we don't mind. Once we received it, the seat was easy to install in our vehicle (Latch system) and the sun shade was really the only item needing assembly. (That took about five minutes.) The sun shade seems a teeny bit flimsy and the material of the foot muff seems likely to snag on Velcro or other rough materials, but so far we haven't had any problems with either. The material of the seat pad, head positioner and foot muff is extremely soft, which I appreciate for our tender little newborn. It was nice not having to spend the extra money on a car seat head positioner, this one works just fine for our compact little 7-pounder, and I'm pretty picky about his comfort. The 5-point harness, albeit super-safe, is a little cumbersome next to a baby body, but we've remedied that with soft strap covers and our baby doesn't seem to be bothered much by it, and snuggles right into his seat when we travel. I find the seat to be fairly light to carry, and have even lifted it without straining or hurting myself within a week of having a C-section. (Not recommended at all, but shows how light the seat is.) As expected, we're finding this seat to be extremely easy to use, comfortable for baby, well-constructed and attractive. There are a lot of trendy and pricey car seats on the market, but Graco is a trustworthy and reliable brand that offers a great product that we've been very happy with, for a fraction of the cost of other car seat manufacturers.
Very good car seat!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this car seat. Consumer reports liked it so i keep looking at it. I also purchased the stroller that this car seat fits in (which i also love - maybe even more than this car seat). The car seat is very easy to use. It was very easy to put together ( so was the stroller). This car seat comes in and out of the base very easily. I do recommend purchasing a base for each vehicle. The only think i'm not crazy about is my son is 7mths old and is approaching the weight limit for this seat. Had i known more about car seats i probably would have purchased a convertible seat in the beginning. I don't mind spending extra money if i know its something i'm going to use for a long time. Now 7 mths into it, and i have to find a new car seat that can accomidate my son. With that said... I do love this carseat.
