Britax Boulevard Convertible Car Seat (Onyx)True Side Impact Protection for Advanced Security
Offering True Side Impact Protection, this seat delivers superior protection if you happen to face an unexpected side-impact accident. If such an event takes place, the solid head support and deep side walls work efficiently to distribute crash forces, shield the child from vehicle intrusion, contain the head and body, and keep the head, neck and spine aligned to limit injury.

Superior 360-Degree Protection to Minimize the Risk of Injury
In addition to True Side Impact Protection, the Boulevard offers a range of superior crash force management features to keep your child properly positioned and protected. First, the patented, energy-absorbing Versa-Tether has staged-release tether webbing, anchoring the top of the seat at two points to minimize forward movement. For growing babies, the easy-adjust, tangle-free five-point harness offers infinite harness height adjustments for a snug, custom fit.

For additional protection, the Harness Ultra Guard System (HUGS) reduces forward head movement, while both the EPS foam liner and base are designed to absorb energy and distribute forces in the event of an unexpected impact.

Superior Fit and Comfort Features
Whether children are watching the world go by or snuggling in for a nap, they'll enjoy that the Boulevard reclines in both the forward and rear position. With additional features which include high-density comfort foam for extra padding, a plush cover set with a matching belly pad for comfort, and an infant body pillow for a custom fit, they'll always ride in style and comfort.

Superior Ease-of-Use for Safety and Convenience
Packed with perks for parents, the Boulevard includes an easy-turn knob that adjusts the headrest and harness height without requiring you to uninstall the seat, and a front harness adjuster allows for easy loosening of the harness. Premium push-button lower LATCH connectors offer a quick, simple, and tight installation, while built-in lock-offs secure the vehicle seat belt so that the car seat does not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

The Britax Boulevard Convertible Car Seat is available in the following patterns: Onyx, Barrington, Huntington, and Shannon.

The Britax Boulevard Convertible Car Seat is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

My son came out of a rollover accident unscathed in this carseat!

This carseat was a god-send, my husband was in a rollover accident with my son in the car in his Britax Boulevard carseat. Thanks to the car (subaru WRX) and the carseat, my son emerged from the car unscathed and said "Dad, your car is broken". The carseat had no stress marks and the tether indicator made it easy to verify that the webbing had not been damaged in the wreck. I'm not sure if the side impact made the difference, but the fact is my son was totally untouched and had no pain or whiplash after a high-speed complete rollover accident on the freeway. I highly recommend this carseat!!!
Don't let its size fool you - it fits in a small car

Reviewer: Justbooking,
When my son started outgrowing the Roundabout, I tried the Boulevard and was very surprised to see that it actually fit well in our 2004 Subaru Forester, which has a notoriously small, narrow back seat. Install was easy and rock-solid.

Although the Boulevard "looks" huge in the store, it's OK once installed rear-facing because the base is very compact. Also, this car seat has a small footprint so it doesn't hang off the edge.

Side to side, the Marathon and the Boulevard are about the same size. The Boulevard is actually smaller than the Graco Sport car seat, which has a very large base and could not be secured tightly in the Forester. Seat depth from the back to the crotch strap is 6" for the Marathon, 6.5" for the Boulevard and 7" for the Roundabout, so if you have a boy, go for the Boulevard.

Although the front passenger seat of my car is moved forward more than I'd like, I can still sit there in a pinch (I'm 5'8" and my knees are 2" from the glove compartment, with the seat very upright). In back, the car seat takes up the whole right seat (there's not much of a "center seat" anyway), so there's really only room for an adult behind the driver. I must clarify that this happens with any car seat I've tried - the problem is the size of the back seat, not the car seat.

The Boulevard car seat will not fit rearfacing behind the driver's seat in my small car. Front-facing, the size of the Boulevard is not an issue.

As with any Britax, the front passenger seat should not be moved or reclined after the car seat is installed - it could interfere with the back tether, the angle of the car seat and the clearance between the back of the front seat and the Britax (there must be about an inch or two fingers, to allow the car seat some give in case of a crash). Follow the manual's instructions to make sure the seat is level - there's a red line on the base as a guide.

The Boulevard also fits well in a Honda Accord, Nissan XTerra, Toyota Rav4 and Lexus SUVs. However, if your car is really, really small and you want that side impact protection, try the Britax Diplomat, about the size of the Roundabout but with wings and a 40 lb. maximum weight limit. If the Diplomat doesn't work, and you need a rear-facing seat, it's time for a minivan.
Great Buy

After 9 months of Graco Infant car seat, I needed to get new convertible car seat for my daughter. After much research, I decided to get a Britax. But I couldn't choose which one. Marathon, Decathlon, or Boulevard. Finally my husband decided to get a Boulevard as safer option.
We love this car seat. My daughter is very comfortable in it and she doesn't sweat or cry as much as in Graco. It is very easy to install and very secure.
well constructed

We bought this seat for our 10 month old who just didn't like her infant seat anymore and was getting too tall. She loves this seat! We've had it for a little over 2 months now. She is rear facing.

I was a bit worried about the "wings" of this seat, but she doesn't mind them at all and I feel better that she has them.

The seat is VERY large especially in the rearfacing position, you can't see the baby while you are in the front seat unless you have a mirror installed in the middle of the back seat and the baby is on one side.

This seat is constructed very well. The straps don't get twisted ever. And she is very comfortable. Because the seat sets up so high, she can see over the back of the seat in our 05 Pathfinder.

Would recommend to anyone.

High quality, great purchase!

After hours of online research, we decided to go with the Britax Boulevard once my daughter outgrew her Graco Snugride (which we also liked). This seat is exceptionally large, so I do not see it fitting in a sports car. I was impressed with the true side impact protection wings, which is what eventually persuaded me to buy this, especially for when we move her from the middle position when another baby comes along. She does have to lean forward to look out the side windows, but has a great view out of the back. They also make a comfy pillow when sleeping. The fabric is very soft and I like the neutral colors. The headrest/strap height adjustment is very easy. I love the tether, it is the only brand to offer a rear-facing tether, you just have to spend a little extra time figuring it out. (I took it to a local specialist in installing car seats.) All of these things make it probably the safest on the market. It is rear-facing to 35 pounds, and forward-facing to 65, so we should get a lot of mileage out of it!

Complaints: The buckle leans towards the back of the seat and you do have to fish it out from under them each time they get in. I find the harness adjuster strap quite difficult to tighten. You cannot tighten it in one smooth motion as you can with the snugride. You have to jerk it out in several repeated motions. Besides this I am very happy with it. We bought it on sale and with a $200 gift card, otherwise I would have been hard-pressed to spend this much on it.

One final note, I was pleased to see the "born on" sticker on the seat. Somehow, it was only about 2 weeks prior to arriving at my house and it was made in Charlotte, just a couple hours from us!
Great Convertible Seat

I love this seat and wish I had started using it instead of my infant car seat sooner. It's easy to install and my daughter looks very comfortable in it. Would definitely recommend!

I am very pleased with the Britax Boulevard. My girls are not allowed to ride in any thing else. I feel safe every time I go somewhere with them. They are well made and they aren't that difficult to install. I went to a Safe Kids Coalition where you make an appointment and they show you how to install your car seat - way easier then reading the manual and you know it is done right. I learned a lot about my car seat and the mistakes a lot of parents make. Here is a link to find one in your area [...]
Very satisfied

Reviewer: Sara in Florida,
My daughter is 7 months old and very long for that age. Her feet were dangling out of the regular infant cas seat, and she just looked so cramped in there. I purchased the Britax after reading many reviews on many different car seats. I am very, very happy with this car seat. I've been using it for a month now. I dreaded the car line to pick up my older son from school. She would cry the whole time. Ever since the Britax, she has not cried once! (during car line). Actually I would go as far as saying that it has decreased her crying in the car by around 85%. She doesn't even cry when I strap her in (which she did almost every single time with the infant car seat). This car seat seems to be so much more comfortable for her. And when she falls asleep her head and neck look to be in a natural position and not like her head is about to fall off! And, as far as safety, it is a very tight fit both on the car, and baby. It feels very sturdy and well made. And she loves it. I couldn't have asked for more.

After doing research for a few weeks I finally decided on the Britax Boulevard for our 9 month old son. He had outgrown his Baby Trend Flex Loc by height so it was time for a convertible. I love this car seat! It arrived yesterday via UPS and was taken to a PA tech car seat inspection today to have it properly installed. They all agreed that it was a "top of the line car seat" and the "best in safety". My son loves it and fell asleep in it on the way home. His car seat pattern is in Evening Sand which has a black cross stitch going across the "sand" colored fabric that isn't really detectable in pics. I'm glad I went with the print. We bought ours from Albee Baby for only $229 vs $309 elsewhere so shop around to see if you can find a deal. Oh yeah and most important the DOM (date of manufacture) was October 27, 2009 so not even two months old and on sale; it was a no brainer;)BTW fits perfectly in my 2005 Corolla.
Peace of Mind

Reviewer: D. Weatherman,
Even as a third time Mom I don't mess around when it comes to car seats, there's no buying the best deal or garage sales. We scour reviews and crash test ratings for hours, replace car seats at least sign of wear despite the cost. The safety of our children is paramount, and its not an area where we cut costs. My daughter outgrew her infant car seat at 6 months so we moved into the Britax Roundabout which was incredibly sound and sturdy, and safety features built into every Britax car seat are very impressive. When you start talking about solid though, even the Roundabout has nothing on the Boulevard TSIP. We ordered this online and when we took it out of the box all we could do was stare at it. Its fully adjustable to fix a child big or small, it has the "wings" I call them to protect the head. It has metal bars welded onto the sides to provide a secondary support for a lapbelt or the latch system. You look at it when it arrives and think "how is my little girl ever going to fit that" but with all the different adjustments it fits like a glove. I won't lie to you, there are a lot of people whose main complaint is that its heavy, but heavy is what is going to withstand a crash. Honestly I wouldn't want to put my baby in a carseat that wasn't "heavy".
