Britax Quality and Style

| We've had this seat about one month now though our three year old has been in his Boulevard since he was 6 months. It is our second Britax Boulevard and our fourth Britax product overall. We like the Boulevard because of its excellent safety and comfort features. The Boulevard is very big and thus very versatile as it will span a long period of our child's early life (up to 65 lbs). That said, the "Click and Safe" model is probably worth the extra few dollars so that folks not used to using a car seat (e.g. grandparents) can safely determine when the seat belt is sufficiently tight. However, we have it installed "rear facing" right now and it pinches the belt. Thus, I'm not sure the click and safe feature is really working. However, this is not our first seat so we know how tight it needs to be. Britax has improved the belt buckle so that it snaps together more easily now. We also think Britax offers that most stylish seats with the best quality fabric. The bottom line is that this is a great seat that is as safe or safer than anything else on the market. It's comfortable, versitile, and stylish. The lone 'negative' is that it's very big. Thus, if you have a compact car, you will have trouble getting it installed as a rear facing seat without impacting the driver or passenger seat. We have a 2003 BMW 5 Series wagon and, when installed rear facing, it does touch the front passenger seat. However, there is sufficient room for a 6 foot adult male to sit in front comfortably. On the flip side, I believe that if you're buying a small car seat, to some degree you're sacrificing safety. When installed front facing, the size is less of an issue. I know it's a pricey seat, but considering it should last us about five years, I think we can swing the $5/month it will cost us to keep our kids safe and happy. Last, but not least, the Mom wanted the 'girlie' fabric for our little girl. Her older brother has a different pattern. Even I must admit the pattern is cute for our little girl and I do think she likes it. |
We like this seat. Here's why. . .

| Here are the principal reasons I purchased this seat: (1) Safety. I researched online and shopped around to various stores and, although I'm no expert in car seats, it seems that Britax has been in the business for many years and has been on the leading edge of making sure their seats are the safest. If you review the information that came with the seat, and if you browse the Britax website, you will get a good idea of the innovation built into these car seats. This particular model is one of, if not their best, as far as safety is concerned. (2) Functionality. We played around with various seats at Babies R Us and we think this one is one of the easiest to use. It has nice comfortable shoulder straps for our daughter, its easy to buckle up, and I am not kidding it took 3 minutes to install this into my 1997 Grand Cherokee. (3) Style. My wife thought the cow print was awesome, and I kind of like it because it can work for boys and girls. I was originally thinking we should get a nice pink seat for our daughter, but then what if we have a boy next....we'd be shelling out for another seat (or embarrasing him in a pink one). So there you have it, the three reasons we bought this seat. We've had it for about 3 months now and have no complaints. Also, you'd be wise to get it from Amazon. I research prices online like a mad man, and this seat could not be purchased for less than I got it on Amazon. Don't forget the free shipping...that adds up. Of course, you should check to make sure Amazon still has the best price but when I bought they were it. Good luck! |
How does it perform in a car crash...

There are kwirks to this car seat. One, for example, is that the buckle is way up, snug in the crotch. It looks like it would probably make a boy uncomfortable. However, my 1yr old girl was buckled into this seat, rear-facing using LATCH during a ~40mph accident and is fine.
I think the result speaks for itself.
One note that someone else mentioned - if you regularly use the tensioning feature to loosen and re-tighten the belt, don't trust the clicking noise that's supposed to signify that it is snug. I very frequently found that it would click when the belt was obviously flapping around, very loose. Use your brain and *check* the tension after it clicks. Just because it clicks doesn't mean you can't cinch it down more.
I'll be replacing this seat with an Advocate CS. |
Safe, comfortable, easy to install, FAA approved and cute!

We just bought this Britax Boulevard carseat for our daughter who just turned 1. Here are the reasons why we spent the extra dollars.
-Safety: We drive an old car('97 Camry). The side impact protection is a definite plus. Since we can't afford a new car, we felt this was the next best thing.
-Comfort: She stopped screaming. Enough said.
-Easy installation: And, no restrapping to adjust height.
-FAA approved: Not all seats are approved. On our recent flight, we were allowed to bring the carseat on board because there was an empty seat next to us, even though we didn't pay for it. She sat in it from take off to landing and slept most of the way.
-Cute: We bought the cow-mooflage pattern. Very cute. The fabric is soft and thick.
It is big but it fits our Camry just fine, rear and forward facing. |

| It's hard to go wrong with a Britax! I'm currently using the car seat as rear-facing. It fits easily in my 4Runner, installs easily and my daughter loves it. When I first read about the Boulevard Click-n-Safe version (clicks when straps are the proper tightness), I rolled my eyes and wondered why anyone would pay extra for the click. Then amazon had it for sale at the same price as the regular Boulevard car seat so I bought it (I liked the fabric pattern more). Now, I'm very happy I went with this version. The click is a handy feature! I figure one day when my daughter is bigger and wants to "help" with her car seat buckles, I can let her tug on the strap until she hears the 'click', and she'll know she's in safe. |

| My 15 month old girl is very comfortable in this seat. I have it installed rear facing in the middle. Both front seats can still be adjusted without any problems. I love the click and safe option, so I know she is strapped in tight enough. The adjustable head rest is great too, making it a perfect fit for my little girl. The police officer who installed the seat for me said it's the safest seat around, which was the most important option for me when purchasing this seat. |
Love it!

| We've heard a lot about Britax and chose not to get one when our son was newborn, as I wanted a seat that I would be able to carry with him in it. Once he was too big for that one, I looked around and couldn't find another that had better safety reviews. He loves his big boy seat so much. We have no problem getting him in and out of it. After we bought the first, we bought a second for the other car. It IS quite large, the largest of the seats available, but totally worth it. I have family in the state police, when they installed the seat, they said that this was the best seat we could have purchased. Totally worth the money, this is our life sitting in this seat to be protected, there's no price you can put on that. If we need to buy another seat in the future, this will definitely be the one we will buy. If you plan on moving this seat from car to car though, you may want to think again, it's not easy to install because it is so big and it's heavy, the more you move them, the more likely you are to install it incorrectly. |
Wonderful Car Seat!!

I bought this car seat when my son was 18 months old and wish I would have bought it to begin with. This seat rear faces from 5 lbs up to 35 lbs and forward faces from 20 lbs to 65 lbs. It comes with an infant pillow that surrounds the baby and keeps them safe. I can use this seat with my 19 month old as well as with my 4.5 year old so it will last a while.
We had the Evenflo Triumph Advance and I loved the infinite strap adjustment on it so when looking for a new seat, that's one of the things I was looking for. I like the fact that once the seat is installed, you don't have to take it out to adjust the height on the straps. The straps on the Britax are much sturdier than the Evenflo, they don't tangle as much, and just seem to be better quality. The Click and Safe system is awesome as it doesn't click anymore once you have the straps tight enough.
This seat is very easy to install and very light to carry around. I have a small car and it fit forward facing without any problems getting a tight install.
Britax makes wonderful products that will last a long time. I highly recommend this seat to anyone considering it. |
Click and Safe actually pretty useful

Hands down an awesome car seat....I don't regret the purchase for a second.
I find the Click and Safe feature to be very helpful and I am able to use it rear facing. Of course, my 8 month old is also fully reclined, perhaps making the strap more accessible. I find the CS feature useful to quickly (and evenly) tighten the straps that I often have to loosen to get the baby in the seat. I also have no problems with an uncomfortable crotch strap with a cloth diapered baby, as one other reviewer mentioned.
My only fault with the seat is that my son loves to chew on the Click and Safe strap, easily avoided if I simple tuck it out of the way.

| I researched online the best car seat for my car and this was the only one suggested. It is a great seat. I needed something not only sturdy and safe but comfortable for my 2 month old, especially since we were about to take a 10 hour road trip. Whereas he absolutely hated the previous seat and could not tolerate being in it for more than about 15 mins to 1/2 hr, he was much happier in this one lasting up to 2hrs. I was also pleased with how easy it was to adjust the straps. Yes it is a little pricey, but I think it was an investment well worth the cost. |
